It’s time for another edition of Mile High Pollster! This week, Adrian Hernandez took to X to gather opinions from Colorado Avalanche fans, and some concerning results have come in. Let’s dive into the findings!
Avalanche Dominance
The Colorado Avalanche have been on an absolute roll this March, with only a shootout loss to Minnesota and an unexpected regulation loss to the Maple Leafs marring their record. That means they’ve earned points in 9 of their last 10 games, accumulating 17 of a possible 20 points this month. An overwhelming 98% of Avalanche fans agree that the team is on fire!
Landeskog’s Return
March, the start of spring, has brought fresh hope for Gabe Landeskog’s potential return to the ice. We’ve seen him back on the ice practicing with the team; he’s on the Canadian road trip, participating in everything except for the games. Optimism is growing, and fans’ opinions are shifting positively with each step forward in his recovery.
Poll Results on Landeskog’s Return
The results of our earlier poll from a month ago are shown above, and this week’s poll results (shown below) indicate that Avs fans are beginning to feel more optimistic about the return of their beloved captain.
Brock Nelson’s Turnaround
When this poll was conducted, newly acquired Brock Nelson had yet to register a point. Fast forward to last night’s two-goal performance, and he’s proven the patience of the Avalanche fanbase was warranted. 73% of fans agree that “things take time,” showing confidence in Nelson’s adjustment to his new team.
Makar for Norris?
Cale Makar is widely regarded as the top defenseman in the world, but will he earn the Norris Trophy this season? Some pundits are still backing Quinn Hughes, and some recent JFresh analytics suggest that the Avalanche might perform better without Makar than with him (especially without MacKinnon). This topic deserves a deeper dive, which I’ll cover in a separate article. Despite this, Makar remains one of the best defenders in the world, and that’s undeniable.

Back-to-Back MVP for MacKinnon?
Now, let’s talk about Nathan MacKinnon’s bid for back-to-back MVP seasons. Given everything MacKinnon has achieved this year, I think it’s a lock—and it seems Avalanche fans agree with me! However, a potential dark horse in the MVP race is Russian superstar Alexander Ovechkin, who recently scored his 888th career goal and is now just seven goals behind Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that voters might lean toward honoring Ovechkin’s historic feat with another MVP award. And what about Jared Bednar? Does he need to lead the team to the playoffs with 45+ different players to be considered for the Jack Adams Award? It’s a bit ridiculous, isn’t it?
As always, feel free to share your thoughts or elaborate on your poll responses in the comments. Thanks again to everyone who participated and contributed to this week’s polls!
