MAJOR BREAKING: Vikings Move on From Cooper Kupp, Lock In Electric Young WR

The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly one of several teams expressing interest in former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, per The Athletic’s Diana Russini. Kupp, who was named Super Bowl 56 MVP, shares strong ties with the Vikings’ coaching staff. Head coach Kevin O’Connell and offensive coordinator Wes Phillips previously worked with Kupp during the Rams’ championship run, and both have spoken highly of him over the years. With the Rams officially releasing him on Wednesday, March 12, Kupp has now emerged as a viable target for Minnesota.

“Teams are lining up for [Cooper Kupp],” Russini revealed during an appearance on the “Gojo and Golic” podcast on March 13. “His asking price isn’t outrageous—he’s looking for around $14 to $15 million. The Seahawks are interested, Jacksonville is monitoring the situation, and the Vikings and Packers are also potential landing spots.”

Although the Vikings have Kupp on their radar, they are also exploring younger alternatives in free agency. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday that former Falcons and Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore was scheduled for a visit with Minnesota as the team evaluates its options.

Pro Football Focus: Rondale Moore is Cardinals' most intriguing player

Drafted in the second round in 2021, Moore is just 24 years old—significantly younger than the 30-year-old Kupp. Known for his elite speed, the 5-foot-8, 180-pound receiver clocked a blistering 4.32-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He offers versatility that Kupp may not, having played as both an outside and slot receiver, as well as taking occasional snaps out of the backfield.

Moore’s production over three seasons with the Cardinals includes 135 receptions for 1,201 yards, along with 52 rushing attempts for 249 yards and four total touchdowns. Unfortunately, after being traded to the Falcons last offseason, Moore suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp, putting his immediate impact into question.

The Patriots should be making a call about Kupp right now.

Both Kupp and Moore present unique benefits and drawbacks. While Kupp remains a proven, reliable target, he is entering the latter stages of his career and may not maintain his previous level of production. Moore, on the other hand, offers dynamic playmaking ability but comes with durability concerns. The financial difference is also notable—Kupp’s asking price is steep, whereas Moore would be a more affordable option, likely serving as a gadget player who O’Connell could creatively integrate into the offense.

Minnesota’s need for receiver depth is evident. Jalen Nailor has struggled to secure the WR3 role, and Jordan Addison could be facing a potential suspension related to his DUI case in Los Angeles, which is expected to be resolved later this year. The Vikings must carefully weigh their options as they seek reinforcements to bolster their receiving corps.
