The Boston Celtics are closing out an impressive regular season with over 60 wins, securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference as they gear up for a deep playoff run. After wrapping up their final game on Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets, the Celtics will benefit from nearly a full week of rest before launching their postseason campaign.
However, the spotlight now shifts to All-Star forward Jaylen Brown, whose health has become a growing concern. Brown has been battling a bone bruise in his right knee, an injury that has reportedly worsened in recent weeks. He hasn’t logged more than 30 minutes in a game since March 12 and has missed the team’s last two contests, following limited play in Tuesday’s game against the Knicks.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Brown underwent pain management injections this week in an effort to accelerate recovery before Boston begins its playoff push.
“Celtics All-Star forward Jaylen Brown received pain management injections in his troublesome right knee this week in an effort to promote healing before Boston begins its title defense,” Shelburne reported, citing league sources.
Shelburne added that the discomfort in Brown’s knee has intensified recently — a troubling sign for the Celtics, who are counting on him to be a key contributor in their quest for a championship.
Boston is set to begin its playoff journey next weekend, facing either the Orlando Magic or the Atlanta Hawks — whichever team wins Tuesday’s Play-In Tournament matchup. Fortunately, the Celtics are strong enough to likely advance past the first round even without Brown, thanks to their depth and talent across the roster.
Still, Boston’s hopes of raising another banner hinge on Brown’s return to full strength. His presence will be vital in the later rounds, where the competition stiffens and every possession counts. Whether he’ll be back at full capacity in time remains a pressing question for Celtics fans and the organization alike.
