The Golden State Warriors have been struggling in their second-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the reason is clear.
In Game 1, star point guard Steph Curry exited early due to an injury, later identified as a strained left hamstring. Although the Warriors managed to secure a win in that game without him, they’ve lost the next three matches, with Curry still sidelined.
Curry’s timeline for recovery has remained unclear, even to him. He recently stated, “No, I don’t have a target return date,” explaining that recovery from a hamstring injury requires a natural healing process that can’t be rushed.
Notably, Curry has never previously dealt with a hamstring injury.
On Wednesday, prior to Game 5, the Warriors provided an update on Curry’s condition. According to the team, Curry has been re-evaluated and is showing positive progress. He’s now cleared for light on-court work, such as shooting drills, and will be assessed again on Saturday.

Curry originally suffered the injury in the second quarter of Game 1 against Minnesota.
While Curry is officially out for Game 5 on Wednesday, there is optimism. If Golden State can win and extend the series, there’s a possibility he could return for Game 6, which is scheduled for Sunday.
In the end, Curry’s return hinges on whether the Warriors can avoid elimination in Game 5.
