The Minnesota Timberwolves (48-33) are teetering on the edge between a high-stakes NBA Play-In scenario and securing a smooth path to the playoffs. With so much on the line, having their star player on the floor is non-negotiable. Thankfully, fans can breathe a sigh of relief—Anthony Edwards will suit up for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Utah Jazz, thanks to the league rescinding his most recent technical foul.
NBA rules dictate that a player is suspended for one game upon reaching 16 technical fouls, with additional suspensions following every two beyond that. Edwards had been slapped with his 18th tech after a heated protest during the second quarter of Friday’s dominant 117-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets. While on paper Minnesota should be able to handle the 17-64 Jazz without the three-time All-Star, past events suggest caution.
Back on February 28, the Timberwolves narrowly lost to Utah 117-116—on a night Edwards was sidelined due to a suspension for his 16th tech. That game was also missing heavyweights Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert, making the loss sting a bit more. Fortunately for Minnesota, they won’t have to revisit that nightmare. Edwards is cleared to play, and the Wolves are locked and loaded for a crucial season finale.
