Michigan State continues its aggressive push on the recruiting trail with yet another commitment
On Friday, a highly regarded star offensive tackle from Liberty High School in Bakersfield, California, announced his decision to join the Spartans. He made the news public via social media, becoming the latest addition to what is shaping up to be one of Michigan State’s most active recruiting stretches in recent memory.
This commitment will bolster its 2026 class with a promising offensive lineman.
His commitment comes just a day after the Spartans secured a pledge from four-star offensive tackle Collin Campbell out of Arizona, signaling a clear emphasis on building up the trenches. With his verbal, Michigan State now boasts 12 commitments in its 2026 class, with a staggering eight of those coming in the month alone. He becomes the third offensive lineman to join the fold, alongside Campbell and three-star prospect Eli Bickel.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 270 pounds, Quinn Buckey, brings an imposing physical presence to the offensive line. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is listed as the No. 74 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 882 overall prospect in the 2026 class. His commitment represents a win over several strong programs, as he chose Michigan State over other finalists including Vanderbilt, Arizona, and UCLA.

Football runs deep in Buckey’s family. His father, Jeff Buckey, played offensive line at Stanford and went on to a professional career in the NFL. That lineage continues with Quinn’s older brothers—Zach, a defensive lineman at Stanford, and Grant, who plays the same position at UCLA—showcasing the family’s strong ties to high-level college football. Quinn now looks to make his own mark in East Lansing.
Beyond the offensive line, the Spartans’ recruiting class features a well-rounded group of talent across both sides of the ball. The nine other current commitments include standout four-star quarterback Kayd Coffman, hard-hitting linebacker Braylon Hodge, athletic tight ends Eddie Whiting and Joey Caudill, a trio of defensive backs in KJ Deriso, Brayden Thomas, and Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy, explosive defensive lineman Christopher Knauls, and versatile EDGE rusher Cory House.
With momentum clearly on their side, Michigan State’s coaching staff is sending a strong message: they are determined to rebuild and reload with a deep, talented 2026 class that reflects their long-term vision and competitive ambition.
