JUST IN: Mavericks’ Playoff Hopes Derailed by Latest Injury Setback

The Dallas Mavericks begin their postseason run on Wednesday night as the 10th seed in the NBA Play-In Tournament, facing off against the Sacramento Kings on the road. It’s a challenging matchup for Dallas, who have lost all three meetings with the Kings this season—each of the last two also resulting in injuries to key players.

Despite those setbacks, the Mavericks head into this high-stakes game relatively healthy, with only a handful of names on their injury report.

Injury Report:

  • Kyrie Irving (left ACL tear), who sustained the injury in a previous game against the Kings, will miss the contest.

  • Brandon Williams, recently signed to a full NBA deal, is questionable after suffering an oblique strain against Memphis.

  • Anthony Davis is listed as probable with a left adductor strain.

Several players who had injury concerns earlier in the season—Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy, and P.J. Washington—are not listed and are expected to be available. However, two-way players like Kai Jones and Kessler Edwards are ineligible for postseason play.

The Kings have ruled out Jake LaRavia (left thumb fracture) and Malik Monk (left calf strain), though Monk could return if Sacramento advances beyond the Play-In.

Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. CST on ESPN from the Golden 1 Center.
