JUST IN: Georgia Lands Another Highly Sought-After Talented Star, Edging Out Rival

The Georgia Bulldogs have maintained dominance over their in-state rival, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, since their last loss in 2016. That dominance now extends to the recruiting trail, as Georgia secured a key commitment from a top in-state prospect.

On March 15, On3’s Jake Reuse reported that the Bulldogs received a verbal pledge from four-star a wide receiver, a standout from Cartersville, Georgia. Marchese, clearly thrilled by the opportunity, shared his excitement with On3:

“It was kind of unbelievable; I couldn’t really believe it. It meant a lot to me being a Georgia boy and having that happen to me meant a lot… It’s Georgia—they’ll always sit pretty high in my recruitment. I want to get up there and see what it’s about and get into it a little more than what I know about it already.”

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Marchese is one of Georgia’s top 50 recruits for the 2026 class. He also ranks among the top 70 wide receivers nationwide and sits within the top 500 overall prospects for his class. His addition strengthens an already impressive Georgia recruiting class, making him the sixth verbal commitment for the Bulldogs in the 2026 cycle. Based on 247Sports rankings, he is currently the fifth-highest-rated of Georgia’s six commits.

Despite his verbal commitment to Georgia, Marchese isn’t closing the door on other programs just yet. On3 reports that the talented wideout still intends to take official visits to several other schools, starting with Georgia Tech on May 30, followed by trips to West Virginia and Virginia Tech. Meanwhile, he has also set an official visit to Georgia on June 6, which will likely be an opportunity for the Bulldogs to further solidify his commitment.

For Georgia, securing top in-state talent has been a priority, and Marchese’s commitment is another testament to the program’s ability to attract elite playmakers. While he remains open to exploring other options, the Bulldogs are in a strong position to hold onto his pledge as they continue to build for the future.
