The Boston Bruins have successfully secured the services of a Cornell University power forward, beating out interest from several other NHL teams, including the Tampa Bay Lightning and Edmonton Oilers. The 24-year-old forward officially signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Bruins on Thursday, signaling Boston’s commitment to building future talent.
He will begin his professional journey by reporting to the Providence Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate, where he’ll finish out the current season under an amateur tryout agreement (ATO). His official one-year NHL contract will kick in for the 2025-26 season, carrying a $950,000 cap hit.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 207 pounds, Dalton Bancroft brings a solid physical presence to the ice. He just wrapped up a productive senior season with the Cornell Big Red, where he posted 15 goals and 12 assists in 36 games. He played alongside Bruins prospect Ryan Walsh, who led the team with 17 goals and 14 assists, showcasing a strong connection between the two.

Bancroft hails from Madoc, Ontario, and spent time in the OHL prior to his collegiate career. Across his tenure in the NCAA, he amassed 36 goals and 43 assists for a total of 79 points in 103 games, marking him as a well-rounded offensive contributor.
His combination of size, skill, and scoring touch makes him a promising addition to Boston’s development pipeline, and his arrival adds further depth to the organization’s forward group heading into future seasons.
