JUST IN: Dallas Cowboys Land Physically Gifted Offensive Star in Blockbuster Trade to Supercharge Offense

The Dallas Cowboys are in dire need of an offensive playmaker, and according to one NFL Draft expert, they are poised to land a dynamic wide receiver in the upcoming draft. While many anticipate the Cowboys might target a running back or defensive reinforcement with their first-round selection, NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes they will instead bolster their receiving corps with a top-tier pass catcher.

Jeremiah’s latest mock draft has the Cowboys selecting Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden with the No. 12 overall pick, opting to strengthen their aerial attack rather than address their backfield concerns—especially with Ashton Jeanty already off the board. The Cowboys have been linked to North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton, but Jeremiah suggests Dallas will prioritize adding a potent weapon alongside CeeDee Lamb.

“With Ashton Jeanty off the board, I wouldn’t rule out North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton landing here,” Jeremiah noted. “However, in this case, the Cowboys give CeeDee Lamb a partner who can take the top off the defense and is more than just a speed threat.”

Golden’s rise to prominence at Texas was nothing short of remarkable. Initially viewed as the No. 2 receiver behind Isaiah Bond, he quickly shattered expectations. By Week 2, in a pivotal matchup against Michigan, he had already emerged as quarterback Quinn Ewers’ favorite target. His knack for making clutch plays became a recurring theme throughout the season.

Whether it was a critical fourth-and-13 conversion against Arizona State, a game-sealing reception in College Station versus Texas A&M, or his dominant performance in the SEC Championship, Golden repeatedly proved his ability to shine under pressure. By season’s end, he had firmly established himself as a premier first-round talent.

His 58 receptions, 987 yards, and nine touchdowns are impressive on paper, but what truly sets him apart are his elite ball skills, precise route running, and ability to step up in high-pressure moments. Then came the NFL Combine, where Golden solidified his status as one of the top receivers in the class. His 4.29-second 40-yard dash turned heads across the league, confirming his ability to stretch the field and make life easier for quarterbacks at the next level.

If Jeremiah’s projection holds true, Golden could be the first wide receiver off the board, joining forces with Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott to create one of the most electrifying offenses in the NFC. While Dallas still has other needs to address, adding a weapon like Golden could provide the firepower they need to push for a deep playoff run.

With draft day quickly approaching, all eyes will be on Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ front office to see if they follow through on Jeremiah’s prediction or if they have other surprises in store.
