The Las Vegas Raiders appear to be steadily rebuilding their identity under new leadership. After bringing in Pete Carroll as head coach and acquiring Geno Smith to lead the offense, the team is working to solidify its foundation while seeking a long-term solution at quarterback.
With these moves already in place, adding another former Seahawk to the roster could be a logical next step. According to Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports, signing Tyler Lockett would make a lot of sense. He pointed out that Lockett, while no longer in his prime at 33, still has valuable downfield savvy that could benefit the Raiders in a reserve role.
Lockett may not be the dominant player he once was, but he remains a dependable and experienced playmaker. Despite a down year in 2024, he still recorded 49 receptions for 600 yards and two touchdowns, production that would be welcomed by the Raiders given their current wide receiver depth.
Beyond his contributions on the field, his chemistry with Geno Smith would provide an immediate boost. The two developed a strong connection in Seattle, and reuniting them in Las Vegas could help the Raiders’ passing game find consistency right away.
Right now, the Raiders’ wide receiver group features lesser-known names like Ramel Keyton and Tre Tucker, with more established options such as Jakobi Meyers and rookie Brock Bowers. Bringing in a veteran like Lockett would not only give Smith another trusted target but also provide leadership for the younger players.
With Carroll, Smith, and now the potential of adding Lockett, the Raiders could be making a strong push to establish a more competitive offense. Whether or not the team decides to make the move remains to be seen, but it’s a signing that could bring experience, familiarity, and steady production as they continue building for the future.
