Although the 2025 NFL Draft has come and gone, teams around the league are still working diligently to bolster their rosters with additional talent. One of the most recent post-draft moves comes from the Los Angeles Chargers, who have officially added a wide receiver to their ranks as an undrafted free agent.
He is a seasoned college football veteran and brings with him a wealth of experience gained from playing at multiple programs over the span of his collegiate career. He began his journey at Illinois, spending three years with the Fighting Illini before transferring to Nevada. After two seasons there, he used his final year of eligibility to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, concluding his college career in the SEC.
Across all three programs, he accumulated a total of 87 receptions for 1,463 yards and three touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2023 while at Nevada, where he posted career highs with 31 catches for 594 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That year showcased his ability to stretch the field and serve as a reliable target downfield.
The Texas native entered college football as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He was ranked the 142nd wide receiver in his recruiting class and the 151st overall player in the state. Despite not having a highly touted recruiting profile, he steadily carved out a respectable college career through perseverance and adaptability.
A notable highlight of his final collegiate season came during the Citrus Bowl, when Dalevon Campbell faced off against his former team, Illinois. In a bittersweet reunion, he made a memorable impact with a 60-yard reception, proving he still had the playmaking ability to deliver in key moments.
Now standing at an imposing 6-foot-4 and weighing 205 pounds, Campbell adds immediate size and physical presence to the Chargers’ wide receiver room. His large frame makes him a potential red-zone threat and an asset in contested catch situations along the sideline. Given that he’s been competing at the collegiate level since 2019, he enters the NFL with a level of maturity and game experience that could give him an edge as he attempts to make the active roster.
While Campbell didn’t hear his name called during the seven rounds of the draft, his signing with the Chargers is a testament to his resilience and continued potential. He’ll now have the chance to prove himself at the next level and compete for a role in one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.
