In his return to the NFL, Jim Harbaugh found early success with former Michigan running back. Now, as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, many speculate that the Los Angeles Chargers could reunite Harbaugh with another Michigan standout—defensive tackle Kenneth Grant.
The Chargers hold the 22nd overall pick in the draft after being eliminated in the Wild Card round of the 2024 playoffs. Following key losses in free agency, the team now has a glaring need on the interior defensive line, according to ESPN’s Kris Rhim.
“With the departures of Morgan Fox and Poona Ford, the interior of the Chargers’ defensive front is arguably their biggest area of concern,” Rhim noted. “Addressing it with a first-round pick would be logical.”

ESPN’s Jordan Reid echoed that sentiment, highlighting defensive tackle as a top draft priority for the Chargers. At No. 22, Michigan’s Kenneth Grant could be the top option. Reid also mentioned Ohio State’s Tyliek Williams as a possible second-round target if the team chooses to wait.
“Building strength in the trenches has always been a focus for Chargers GM Joe Hortiz and head coach Jim Harbaugh, and this draft appears to be no exception,” Reid wrote. “Both Grant and Williams are dependable run-stoppers who align well with the Chargers’ system.”
