Eddie Howe provided an update on Alexander Isak’s injury as four new selection concerns emerged for Newcastle.

Newcastle’s FA Cup defeat on Sunday was a tough blow for the Magpies, who not only lost to Brighton & Hove Albion but also picked up several injury concerns ahead of their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool in two weeks.

The most significant issue is Anthony Gordon, who was sent off for violent conduct after a confrontation with Jan Paul van Hecke, leading to an automatic three-match ban across domestic competitions unless an appeal is successful. There was additional frustration as Alexander Isak was substituted in the 86th minute, visibly limping after suffering from a groin problem that had kept him out of the 2-0 loss to Liverpool. Manager Eddie Howe reassured fans, saying, “It was just general tiredness, I don’t think there is a problem there,” and hoped that Isak would be fine.

Howe also mentioned that Tino Livramento was dealing with cramp and that Kieran Trippier had to come off due to a back injury. Full-back positions are becoming a growing concern for Newcastle, as they were also without Lewis Hall on Sunday.
