Edddie Howe explain worries ahead of carabao cup finals due to new injuries setback.

Isak was absent from Wednesday’s match at Anfield, where Liverpool triumphed 2-0 thanks to goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister. The decision to rest him came late from manager Eddie Howe, even though Isak had already traveled for the match before the call was made.

This raised doubts about whether the former Real Sociedad forward would be fit for the upcoming League Cup final against Liverpool on March 16, as the Reds aim to win the trophy for the 11th time and defend last year’s title.

During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Howe addressed Isak’s situation: “We’ll see today. I haven’t spoken to him since the last game, but we’ll assess him today and have a discussion. We don’t believe it’s a long-term issue.”

He added, “The decision on Wednesday was precautionary; there was no risk taken, and at this point in the season, that’s important. If he’s fit, he’ll play. There’s always some risk with any player, even if they’re fully fit, but we won’t take any chances with his long-term health. We’ll check on him today.”
