BREAKING SHOCKWAVE: Hokies Pull Off INSANE Blockbuster Trade for Elite Lineman — Rivals Left Scrambling

For the second time in as many days, Virginia Tech continues to bolster its line depth. On Wednesday, the Hokies landed former North Dakota State defensive tackle Kody Huisman.

The following day, offensive line coach Matt Moore secured another familiar face from his previous stint, as offensive lineman Gavin Crawford announced his transfer to Virginia Tech. A 2025 recruit, Crawford had enrolled at West Virginia in January and spent the spring semester there.

Rated as a three-star prospect, Crawford played at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland—an area where Moore has successfully recruited in the past. At 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, Crawford brings four years of eligibility to the Hokies.

He joins Tomas Rimac, Kyle Altuner, and Lucas Austin as former West Virginia players now following Moore to Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech’s offensive line will have a fresh look next season, with all five starters needing to be replaced. Brody Meadows, who saw part-time action, is expected to claim one of the guard positions in 2025. Rimac is projected to start and boasts All-Big 12 honors. Altuner is the leading candidate to take over at center, while Austin and Crawford are expected to provide valuable depth.

The Hokies lost two starting linemen to the transfer portal, including standout left tackle Xavier Chaplin, who transferred to Auburn.

OL Gavin Crawford set to transfer to Virginia Tech

Coach Moore could still add more former WVU offensive linemen before the spring transfer window ends. So far this spring, Virginia Tech has welcomed its first two portal additions in Huisman and Crawford.

Welcome to Blacksburg, Gavin.
