BREAKING: Knicks Receive Troubling Update on All-Star Point Guard’s Injury—Major Implications Ahead

The New York Knicks are being cautious with their All-Star guard, as he works his way back from an ankle injury. The team is prioritizing his long-term health, ensuring he is fully recovered in time for the playoffs rather than rushing him back for the final stretch of the regular season.

Knicks Taking Cautious Approach His Recovery

He suffered the injury on March 6, has been progressing slowly, with ESPN’s Cassidy Hubbarth providing an update during Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat. According to Hubbarth (via Geoff Magliocchetti of New York Knicks on SI), he is still in a walking boot but has been able to do some light shooting drills.

“I’m told he’s still in a boot and he’s done some very light shooting,” Hubbarth reported. “The Knicks are focused on keeping swelling down and then increasing mobility as his recovery continues. They know that they need him right for the playoffs, so that’s the priority at this point with under a month left in the regular season.”

While New York has managed a respectable 3-2 record in his absence, there is no denying that Brunson is the engine that drives the Knicks’ offense. The former Villanova standout leads the team with 26.3 points per game and 7.4 assists, while his ability to deliver in clutch moments has been crucial to New York’s success this season.

Avoiding Another Injury-Plagued Playoff Push

Last year, injuries derailed the Knicks’ postseason hopes, and they are determined to avoid a repeat. Brunson’s return will be a key factor in whether the team can make a deep playoff run. Though he has resumed some basketball activities, he will need to complete more intense workouts, including full-contact 5-on-5 practices, before being cleared for game action.

With the playoffs fast approaching, the Knicks are aiming for a return timeline around late March or early April. While his absence is felt, the team is playing the long game, ensuring that when Brunson returns, he is at full strength and ready to lead them into the postseason.
