BREAKING: Commanders Officially Confirm Blockbuster Signing of Another Veteran—A Major Boost to Commanders

The Washington Commanders have secured a deal to bring in veteran safety Will Harris, previously with the New Orleans Saints.

As reported by NFL Network, Harris has agreed to a two-year contract that could be worth up to $10 million.

The 29-year-old defender started 13 games during his lone season with the Saints, tallying 74 tackles and one interception. Originally a third-round pick by the Detroit Lions, he has recorded three career interceptions over six NFL seasons.

Washington was in need of reinforcements in its secondary following the departure of safety Jeremy Chinn, who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday.

Will Harris’ versatility makes him an ideal fit for the role left vacant by Chinn in head coach Dan Quinn’s defensive scheme. Over his career, he has demonstrated the ability to play multiple positions, including linebacker and cornerback, in addition to safety.

According to Pro Football Focus, Harris even logged 112 snaps along the defensive line last season, showcasing his adaptability.

His signing marks the second major move for Commanders general manager Adam Peters this offseason, following the team’s three-year, $45 million contract with former New York Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw.
