Bruins Strengthen Prospect Pool with New Signing

On Wednesday, the Bruins added some size and toughness to their prospect roster by signing a 6-foot-3, 207-pound left-shot forward from Cornell. Dalton Bancroft agreed to a one-year entry-level contract, carrying an NHL cap hit of $950,000. He will complete the season with Providence under an amateur tryout agreement.

Bancroft, a 24-year-old undrafted free agent from Madoc, Ontario, recorded 15 goals, 12 assists, and 27 points in 36 games for Cornell last season, playing alongside Bruins draftee Ryan Walsh (a 2020 sixth-round pick, 188th overall). Over the course of 103 NCAA games with Cornell, Bancroft accumulated 36 goals, 43 assists, and 79 points.

In the 2021-22 season, Bancroft earned the Ontario Junior Hockey League MVP award, posting a league-leading 37 goals, 55 assists, and 92 points.

Bancroft joins Latvian forward Dans Locmelis, whom the Bruins signed from UMass on Tuesday, as part of their effort to strengthen Providence for the remainder of the season.
