BREAKING: Bears Officially Makes Another Blockbuster Signing — Lands Highly Experienced Superstar to the Squad

The Chicago Bears are set to acquire a highly experienced Pro Bowl guard from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The report credits ESPN’s Bears beat writer Courtney Cronin for first breaking the news.

He just turned 28 in February, signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Rams in March 2024. However, his season was largely derailed by a fractured scapula suffered in Week 2, forcing him to miss significant time. In his absence, rookie Beaux Limmer stepped in at center while Steve Avila shifted back to guard.

When Jonah Jackson returned in November, the Rams initially inserted him at center—a position he had only played for 24 career snaps before 2024. After one game, he was benched in favor of Limmer but later saw action at right guard, where he delivered a standout performance, earning an impressive 91.8 PFF grade over 66 snaps.

The Ideal Trade Scenario for Rams OL Jonah Jackson

Prior to joining the Rams, Jackson spent four seasons as the starting left guard for the Detroit Lions, earning Pro Bowl recognition in 2021 during his second year in the league. His trade to Chicago reunites him with Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who served as his offensive coordinator in Detroit in 2022 and 2023. This move provides Jackson with an opportunity to regain his form in a familiar offensive scheme after a difficult 2024 season.

The pick heading to the Rams is projected to be No. 197 overall, according to Tankathon. Chicago initially acquired this selection from the Steelers as part of the 2024 trade that sent quarterback Justin Fields to Pittsburgh.

With Jackson’s arrival, the Bears gain a much-needed veteran presence along their offensive line, which is expected to undergo major changes this offseason. If he secures the starting left guard spot, Chicago will likely look to free agency and the draft to reinforce their needs at center and right guard ahead of the 2025 campaign.
