Even though the 2025 NFL Draft has officially wrapped, roster-building efforts across the league are still in full swing. Franchises continue to explore undrafted talent in hopes of uncovering hidden gems, and the Los Angeles Chargers are among the latest to make a noteworthy move. The team has signed wide receiver Dalevon Campbell, a well-traveled and experienced college player, as an undrafted free agent.

Campbell’s collegiate journey spans three different programs and offers a testament to his persistence, adaptability, and growth as a player. He kicked off his career at the University of Illinois, where he spent three seasons refining his skills with the Fighting Illini. Seeking a fresh opportunity, Campbell then transferred to Nevada, playing two productive seasons there before using his final year of eligibility to join the South Carolina Gamecocks in the highly competitive Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Over the course of his college career, Campbell compiled 87 receptions, 1,463 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. His breakout year came in 2023 while playing for Nevada, where he delivered his best statistical season with 31 receptions, 594 yards, and two touchdowns. That campaign highlighted his ability to contribute as a vertical threat, showing good hands, route-running capability, and the knack for creating big plays.

Coming out of high school, Campbell wasn’t heavily recruited, but he was recognized by 247Sports as a three-star prospect. He was ranked the No. 142 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 151 overall player in the talent-rich state of Texas. Though he didn’t enter college football with a great deal of hype, Campbell demonstrated the value of hard work and consistency, ultimately building a respectable collegiate résumé across three different programs.

One of the more intriguing storylines in Campbell’s final year came during the Citrus Bowl when he had a chance to compete against his original school, Illinois. In a full-circle moment, Campbell made his presence felt with a 60-yard reception, reminding everyone of his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations and stretch the field when needed.

Physically, Campbell brings a unique dimension to the Chargers’ wide receiver corps. At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, he’s a big-bodied target who can be especially dangerous in red-zone scenarios and contested-catch situations along the boundary. His size, combined with years of playing experience dating back to 2019, gives him an edge in terms of maturity and readiness to contribute at the professional level.

Though he wasn’t selected in the draft, Campbell’s signing with the Chargers is far from insignificant. It signals belief in his upside and speaks to his perseverance in overcoming the odds. Now, with a spot on an NFL roster, Campbell will have the opportunity to compete for a role within an offense known for its passing prowess. If he can continue to develop and showcase his strengths, there’s a real chance he could become a valuable piece in the Chargers’ offensive plans moving forward.
