BLOCKBUSTER: Bills Land Physically Gifted Corner Out of Virginia Tech in Historic Draft Steal

The Buffalo Bills made a strategic addition to their secondary in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting Virginia Tech cornerback  with the 177th overall pick. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 185 pounds, he brings both size and experience to the Bills’ defensive backfield. A native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, he spent five seasons with the Hokies, gradually developing into one of the most respected defensive backs in the ACC.

He made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2020, appearing in 11 games and earning five starts. He tallied 22 tackles, five pass breakups, and one interception, showcasing poise beyond his years and quickly earning a spot in Virginia Tech’s defensive rotation. In his sophomore season in 2021, he took on a larger role, starting 10 of 13 games while adding 23 tackles, six passes defensed, and another interception to his resume.

Although his 2022 campaign was derailed by injury, limiting him to just four appearances, He bounced back in 2023 with a standout season. He earned All-ACC honors and was named to the Action Network’s Second-Team All-American, cementing his status as one of the top cornerbacks in college football. His resurgence continued into the 2024 season, where he started every game for the Hokies and served as a veteran leader on defense.

Over the course of his collegiate career, Strong appeared in 53 games, starting the majority of them, and recorded seven interceptions, along with dozens of passes defensed and consistent tackling production. His ability to stay with receivers in man coverage, read plays instinctively, and contribute in run support made him a well-rounded defender—and a valuable late-round find for Buffalo.

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry praised Strong’s dedication and skillset, saying:

“Dorian is the kind of player who loves to compete in coverage. He’s not only a highly skilled corner with exceptional physical traits—he’s the guy who will battle every play, contesting catches like it’s a personal challenge. He’s also a proven, reliable tackler and has a natural feel for the game with his field awareness. Dorian is a true technician that takes tremendous pride in his craft.”

Now, Strong joins a perennially competitive Bills team, where he’ll have the opportunity to contribute in a deep and talented secondary that has often been among the league’s best. Whether on special teams, in nickel packages, or eventually competing for a starting role, Strong’s mix of athleticism, toughness, and experience gives him a promising outlook in the NFL.

Best of luck, Dorian—Hokie Nation is behind you!
