SO PAINFUL: Bryce James, Youngest Son of LeBron James Sparks Controversy With Commitment To Wildcats That…..

When he committed to play collegiate basketball for the Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday, Bryce James—the youngest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James—made headlines. The decision seemed to make sense on the surface because James, a 3-star shooting guard from Sierra Canyon, is ranked 257th overall in his class by 247Sports.

However, James’ dedication goes well beyond appearances. Similar to his older brother Bronny, several fans and analysts believe that Bryce James’ recruiting ranking is exaggerated because of his well-known father. Kevin Sweeney, a college basketball insider, commented on James’ ranking in the top 100 by On3.

“Bryce James is under the microscope, just like his older brother Bronny, because he is the son of Lebron James,” stated Adam Finkelstein, director of scouting for 247Sports. However, Bryce needs time and space to run his own race. Although he may not first appear to be the dynamic athlete or playmaker that some anticipate, he is a fundamentally sound player with a nice early skill set and a great perimeter size.
