JUST IN: According to Sabrina Ionescu, she will depart and never come back if this is not done.

As the last player for this season in the new 3-on-3 league, Sabrina Ionescu will be joining Unrivalled.

On Monday, the Liberty star guard who earlier this season helped New York win the team’s first title signed a historic contract. She will join the Phantom BC that acquired Natasha Cloud through a trade on Saturday night.

Ionescu will also be playing with Brittney Griner, Marina Mabrey, Katie Lou Samuelson and Satou Sabally. Ionescu was teammates with Sabally at Oregon.

Ionescu, 27, is recuperating from surgery she underwent earlier this month to stabilise the ulnar collateral ligament in her right thumb. “Having my thumb fixed was quite the birthday present,” she wrote in a social media post about the treatment.

Ionescu’s injury was not recognised until after the Liberty won the championship, but it happened during the WNBA Finals. With eight assists and seven rebounds, she contributed to the team’s victory despite going just 1 for 19 in the pivotal Game 5 versus Minnesota.

The former Oregon great has had a busy year, earning an Olympic gold medal and getting married to former Oregon Ducks football player Hroniss Grasu.
