NEWS NOW: As Rangers and Celtic circle, Fiorentina and Lazio submit Burnley FC transfer approaches.

Both Fiorentina and Lazio, two Serie A teams, have made attempts to sign Josh Brownhill, a midfielder for Burnley.

The Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic and Rangers are also interested in the Englishman, who is now a crucial player at Turf Moor, according to a report from TBR Football.

Brownhill’s contract had an extension option that the Clarets activated in the summer to keep him for an additional year, but that option expires in 2025, so if they want to keep him past the conclusion of this season, they will need to sign him to new terms.

if the Englishman signs a new contract in Lancashire may depend in part on if the team is promoted back to the Premier League.

But even if they are promoted, Brownhill isn’t guaranteed to put pen to paper on a new deal, and Scott Parker’s side are in real danger of losing him.

English teams will have to wait until the summer if they want to sign him for free, but sides from other countries can offer him a pre-contract deal, and the Clarets will be powerless to prevent him from leaving Turf Moor if an agreement is struck.
