The Baltimore Ravens have a strong defense; in the 2023-24 season, they set an NFL record by leading the league in points allowed (16.5 per game), sacks (60), and takeaways (31).

The Ravens did lose some significant defensive players this offseason, as safety Geno Stone joined with the Cincinnati Bengals and linebacker Patrick Queen signed with the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

Even with some important departures, the Ravens still have a plethora of excellent defensive players, and the expectation is for another good season on defense, particularly in the secondary.

Marcus Williams gives his opinion on the Ravens secondary.
Marcus Williams, the Baltimore Ravens’ safety, is entering the third year of his deal. Williams inked a five-year, $70 million contract with Baltimore, and while he has done well when on the field, he has struggled to stay on the field for the Ravens during his first two seasons.

Marcus Williams was asked to explain his predictions for the Baltimore secondary in 2024, and he highlighted a few critical factors. He stated that they must rediscover their identity after training camp and rekindle their camaraderie because it is a new season.

We just need to develop our identity in training camp; that’s the most essential thing: to have excellent camaraderie. And it’s a new year; we’re not the same people we were last year, so we need to bond again and reconnect on that level. But I believe we’ll have some good playmakers back there, physical individuals who will attack the ball and take it away.”

The Ravens got Nate Wiggins and T.J. Tampa through the draft to help replace players like Stone who left for free agency.

The Ravens have big expectations for safety and TCU product Ar’Darius Washington.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is one among many with high hopes for Washington, who will be required with a long season and some rookies in the mix for Baltimore.

Ar’Darius has looked very nice. Yes, I am really positive about him. He has already established himself. He has played in the games, and he has performed admirably in each one. He looked terrific in practice, so let’s get him out there and play some more games. That is the goal.
