Auburn secured a significant in-state recruiting victory Friday at the expense of a bitter rival, converting 2025 four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman from his commitment to Alabama. Coleman had been committed to Alabama since September. His commitment propels the Tigers up two spots in the 2025 recruiting rankings, to third overall behind Alabama and Notre Dame.
According to 247Sports, the Saraland (Alabama) High School product is the No. 91 overall prospect and the No. 9 player in the state of Alabama. Alabama has five of Auburn’s eight commitments for the 2025 recruiting cycle. Coleman is the group’s second-highest ranked player, trailing only four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry.
Coleman visited Auburn for the Iron Bowl over Thanksgiving weekend and changed his mind less than a month later.
Hugh Freeze has led Auburn to tremendous recruiting success since taking over as head coach. The 2024 recruiting class for the Tigers is ranked seventh in the cycle, trailing only Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oregon, Miami, and Ohio State.
Earlier this week, the Tigers signed five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, the No. 1 ranked player in Alabama. According to 247Sports, Auburn appears to be in the running for the state’s top player again in 2025, with five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord expressing strong interest in joining Freeze’s program.
