One of the most reliable players in Alabama football under Nick Saban’s coaching has signed a rookie deal.
The Minnesota Vikings signed Will Reichard, a former kicker for the Crimson Tide, to a four-year contract on Sunday. Reichard was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, and the team posted a picture of him signing on Instagram.
In addition to finishing his college career as the all-time leader in points (547), Reichard was named to the first team of the Southeastern Conference in the previous campaign. The Hoover (Ala.) team won three SEC Championship rings (2020–21, 2023), a College Football Playoff National Championship ring in 2020, and the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year award in 2023. Throughout his five years in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Reichard eliminated any kicking worries. Fans of Alabama never had to worry about him not being able to make a kick.
After being drafted, Reichard handed Saban something really special.
The 72-year-old has now had a University of Alabama player picked to the National Football League at every position.
Reichard’s four-year contract is valued at $4.19 million, according to Spotrac. In addition to his $170,620 signing bonus, he makes an average salary of $1.04 million. By the time he reached his fourth season in the league, Reichard had amassed $1.23 million.
Although he did well at Alabama, Tide supporters are aware that he is primed to succeed in the NFL.
