Arkansas’s Fayetteville — Jaylon Braxton, the starting defensive back for the Arkansas Razorbacks, posted on his X account on Friday night announcing that he will be using the transfer portal.
When the Razorbacks finished 2023 with a 4-8 overall record and a 1-7 conference record, Braxton was one of a few standouts. Despite just making six starts and playing in nine games last season, he was named a rookie All-SEC by the league coaches.
In addition to posting 20 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception, the Frisco, Texas native led Arkansas in eight pass breakups. Before missing the final ten games due to a knee injury, he started the first two games of the season against Oklahoma State and UAPB and finished with just two pass breakups.
Braxton joined Arkansas as its top signee and the 143rd-ranked prospect in the 2023 class, which placed 22nd nationally in 247sports’ recruiting rankings.
As a member of the 2023 class which finished No. 22 nationally in 247sports recruiting rankings, Braxton signed with Arkansas as its top signee, No. 143 ranked prospect, No. 13 among defensive backs and No. 27 player in the state of Texas. He flipped his commitment to the Razorbacks in July of 2023 after initially pledged to Michigan State.
