Paul McCartney is looking forward to a great Christmas season after concluding his 2024 tour on December 19 with a thrilling performance in London that included cameos from Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.
McCartney shared his holiday plans and other tidbits in a year-end edition of his “You Gave Me the Answer” feature. One of those tidbits involved whether he was planning to make any new music in the coming year.
One of the fan Q&A questions concerned Paul’s Christmas plans. “It’s Christmas, so it’s family time for me,” McCartney wrote after stating that he planned to take “a well-deserved rest.” In fact, the decorations are already up. Additionally, I’m one of those guys that enjoys overdoing the decorations, so I need some time to unwind and take in the beauty. That’s what I have to anticipate, then.
As 2024 draws to a conclusion, he was also asked what he was most grateful for.
“My family, as always; my kids and [my wife] Nancy, who are all great people,” Paul replied. “I love them. With them and the grandkids, I’ve got a really enjoyable family to hang out with, particularly at Christmas with all the presents. They say, ‘Thanks, Grandad, for the presents. I love them!’ And that’s just Nancy!”
McCartney Shared an Interesting New Year’s Resolution
What year-end feature would be complete without a New Year’s resolution? McCartney finished the Q&A by sharing some exciting news involving what he hoped to accomplish in 2025.
“Here’s one [resolution]: finish an album!” Paul declared. “I’ve been working on a lot of songs, and have had to put it to the side because of the tour. So, I’m hoping to get back into that and finish up a lot of these songs. So, how’s about that? ‘My New Year’s resolution is to finish a new album!’”
Concerning McCartney’s Latest Album
McCartney’s 2020 solo album McCartney III was his most recent release of brand-new music. Paul provided almost all of the vocal and instrumental elements for every song on the album.
In contrast, the vintage Paul McCartney & Wings record One Hand Clapping was released in 2024. Paul and his post-Beatles band recorded live during a four-day session at Abbey Road Studios in Londin in August 1974, and the recordings were included in the compilation.
