Alabama Lands Major Transfer Portal News Before Michigan Matchup
The Alabama Crimson Tide narrowly missed the first year of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field after suffering three losses during their 2024 regular-season campaign. Now, Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have their attention focused toward a ReliaQuest Bowl matchup against the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines. On Saturday night, a few days before this postseason matchup, Alabama landed some big news out of the transfer portal. Former Colorado linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green has committed to join the Crimson Tide for his final season of collegiate eligibility. Hill-Green began his college football career with two years at Michigan before transferring to Charlotte then Colorado. In his 2024 season with Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes, the veteran linebacker recorded 82 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and two interceptions through 12 game appearances.
Hill-Green is the No. 1 ranked linebacker in the 2025 transfer portal, according to 247 Sports’ rankings. Earlier in the day, the Crimson Tide landed another transfer portal commitment from former Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton.
The Crimson Tide are listed as a 10.5-point favorite over Michigan in their upcoming bowl-game matchup. The Dec. 31 contest will kickoff at noon EST from Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium.
