The Detroit Lions’ primary needs entering the 2024 season are in the secondary and along the defensive line.

Several scouts were impressed with Darius Robinson’s agility and physicality during workouts at the recent Senior Bowl.

According to NFL.com, Robinson’s 286-pound bulk and fast hands made him a threat in one-on-ones at the Senior Bowl. Putting him against Aidan Hutchinson creates a lose-lose situation for opposing blocking methods.”

Robinson contributed significantly to Missouri’s record season in 2023. The Tigers finished 11-2 in 2023, defeating Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

The Michigan native and Canton High School graduate recorded 8.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and 42 pressures while earning an 83.1 Pro Football Focus overall defensive grade. Robinson finished his five-year career with 13 total sacks and 21 tackles for loss.

“I’m looking to prove that I’m the best defensive lineman in the 2024 NFL Draft,” Robinson told The Draft Network. “I have played every position at Missouri. I am versatile enough to play both indoors and outdoors. I’m going to illustrate how physical of a player I am.

“I have a high motor. I know how to use leverage to my advantage. I am incredibly violent. I’ve grown as a pass rusher throughout the years, especially between last season and this year.”

Detroit’s defensive line is led by Aidan Hutchinson, who has 11.5 sacks in 2023.

Detroit’s defensive line only had 41 total sacks, ranking 23rd in the NFL.

Teams averaged more than five yards per play, and the Lions’ defense struggled to force three-and-outs all season.

At 6-5 and 286 pounds, the Lions’ defensive coaching staff should find his skill set appropriate to help the team take the next step forward as they seek a Super Bowl run this season.
