The New York Yankees are already in a stronger position, but they should improve even more over the summer. Jasson Domínguez, an elite prospect for the Yankees, made an amazing debut in the major leagues last season. He shone during his brief tenure with the club, but an elbow injury forced him to have Tommy John surgery. Although he will miss much of the 2024 season, Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided a very favorable update on him, according to SNY’s John Healy.
“Domínguez is still recovering from undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last September and will likely not be ready until later in the season, but manager Aaron Boone certainly sounds optimistic about the progress he is making,” he stated. “He’s doing really well,” Boone said on The Michael Kay Show on Thursday, as transcribed by Healy. “(He’s in) excellent shape. He turned 21 years old on Wednesday. It’s great to see him.He works hard. He’ll be back in the summer for us. I am certain about that. Boone also stated that Dominguez will begin throwing in around 10 days to two weeks.
Domínguez’s timely return to the field would greatly benefit the Yankees. Bringing Domínguez back into the fold will further improve New York’s offseason performance.

Two-time Cy Young champion Corey Kluber retires.
Corey Kluber, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, announced his retirement on Friday, capping up an award-winning 13-season career in Major League Baseball.
“As I leave the pitcher’s mound, my love for baseball remains unwavering,” the 37-year-old stated in an Instagram post. “I am excited to explore options to continue contributing to the sport in a different position. Thank you to everyone who has helped make my baseball journey a wonderful one.
“For all of those that will be part of my next chapter in baseball, I look forward to passing on what I have learned to the next generation of MLB players.”
The Padres selected Kluber in the fourth round out of Stetson in 2007. He made his big-league debut with the Indians in 2011 and quickly became a force, winning the first of his two Cy Young Awards in 2014.
He began Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, giving six hits and four runs in four innings in an eventual 8-7 loss to the Cubs in an extra-innings instant classic.
Kluber was a three-time All-Star, receiving accolades in 2015, 2016, and 2017 – the same year he won his second Cy Young Award following an 18-4 season in which he led the majors in wins, ERA (2.25), complete games (5), and shutouts (3).
In 2020, he was traded to the Rangers, but his season ended after only three batters due to a torn right teres major muscle.
He joined the Yankees in 2021 and, despite an injury-plagued season, hurled the franchise’s 12th no-hitter.
“He’s missed a lot of time, but you’re talking about one of the great pitchers of the last decade,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said following the memorable game against the Rangers. “It’s a remarkable tale given some of the difficulties he’s faced and not pitching much the last two seasons. [But] he’s in terrific form, healthy, and we’re seeing the results of a guy who knows what he’s doing.”
He made it through the 2022 season with the Rays, pitching to a 4.34 ERA in 31 starts, but right shoulder injury hampered his 2023 season with the Red Sox, where he produced a 7.04 ERA and went 3-6.
