Retiring Roethlisberger
QB Ben Roethlisberger hung up his cleats exactly two years ago, as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Twitter account pointed out on Saturday. It was expected that Roethlisberger will make his final lap around Heinz Field after his final home game of his career, a victory over the Cleveland Browns.
However, there wasn’t much of a fuss just now. A video was created by Roethlisberger’s team with him declaring he was hanging up his cleats, but there was never an official press conference.
Playing exclusively for the Steelers, Roethlisberger won two Super Bowls and was a participant in a third before retiring from the NFL. Canton, Ohio, will be his next destination.
NFL Wide Receiver Arrested
WR Kayshon Boutte of the New England Patriots was taken into custody earlier this week on a number of serious accusations connected to gambling. Over the course of 13 months, Boutte is accused of making approximately 9,000 wagers under a fictitious account, wagering on at least six games in which he participated as a receiver for LSU.
There is currently no proof that he wagered on NFL games. The Patriots selected Boutte in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, despite his previous high draft pick status. As a rookie, he caught two passes. Over the past year, the league has suspended several players for gambling-related offenses, and Roger Goodell now has the authority to penalize Boutte for actions he took before to joining the NFL.
Choose the Steelers, Kelce
Jason and Travis Kelce are selecting the greatest team names and outfits on the most recent edition of their podcast, New Heights Podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers prevailed once more over the Baltimore Ravens in a subsequent game. He ultimately made the decision to support the Steelers due of their history with the steel mills and the old Rust Belt.
From 1933 until 1939, the Steelers were known as the Pirates. Football teams would frequently adopt the same name as their MLB counterpart in the early NFL in an attempt to capitalize on baseball’s widespread appeal. However, it was rarely successful. The origins of the term “Steelers” are actually a topic of some debate. According to some reports, Rooney selected it, however Kelce claims that a fan-submitted contest determined the Steelers’ selection.
