Virginia Tech Football has announced several new additions and reshuffling within their coaching staff.

The Hokies have hired Jens Danielson as the assistant offensive line coach, Cannon Montgomery as the assistant running backs coach, Bryan Whitehead as the Nickels Coach, and Jireh Wilson as the Edges Coach. Additionally, there have been some internal changes: Brent Davis has moved to tight ends coach, Shawn Quinn is now the outside linebackers coach, and Xavier Adibi will coach inside linebackers.

Danielson brings valuable experience from Power Five schools, including two stints at West Virginia. He most recently served as the run game specialist and centers coach for the Mountaineers in 2024. Montgomery, who was the wide receivers coach at Houston Christian University in 2024, has worked with various positions, including quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, and returners at several schools. Wilson comes to Virginia Tech after a year as safeties coach at Kennesaw State and a season as the defensive coordinator at North Greenville University, where he significantly improved his defense’s performance.

Whitehead’s coaching career includes serving as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin-La Crosse and coaching defensive backs at Wofford College. He began his career as a defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Wisconsin-Platteville.

With a number of coaching changes this offseason, including the hiring of two new coordinators, only time will tell if these adjustments will bring better results for head coach Brent Pry and the Hokies.
