Jameson Williams, the Detroit Lions’ second-year wideout, has yet to make an impact in the postseason, but a closer look shows a more complete player in recent weeks.

Rather than being employed solely on deep routes, Williams has demonstrated a diverse route tree and the ability to handle contested catches. He caught two passes for 35 yards against the Buccaneers, including a comeback route on which he received a hard hit.
Williams has two catches in each of Detroit’s playoff games, totaling 54 yards.

Goff has observed these trends throughout the season and believes the great receiver is on the verge of a big performance.

“I think he’s just become a part of the offense now, where we don’t have to just send him deep or just send him on certain routes to do certain things,” he said. “Like he can run every route we have and does an excellent job of it. And he’s grown tremendously this year and continues to improve. He improves every week. He’s getting better, learning, and developing, and it’s just a matter of time before he has one of those breakout games where everything clicks.”

Addressing the haters.
The Lions’ march to the NFC Championship game has enthralled the nation.

As the quintessential underdog among the four teams still vying for the Super Bowl, the Lions have become the favorite among national fans who have no rooting interest in the other teams.

However, not everyone is bullish about Detroit’s chances against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday. Skip Bayless, in particular, disregarded the Lions’ chances of beating the fancied 49ers.

“Congrats, Lions,” Bayless tweeted on social media Sunday. “You have acquired the right to get blown out in San Francisco. But gosh, what a terrific year.”

While that dig may serve as motivation for the Lions, quarterback Jared Goff told 97.1 The Ticket’s Karsch and Anderson Show that he is unconcerned about outsider perceptions.

“No, I don’t care what he says,” Goff stated Tuesday. “You may quit now. “You can skip anything those guys say on daytime TV.”
