Despite ongoing injury concerns, there’s a glimmer of hope for Sunderland as one player may return sooner than expected.
These returns were meant to give Regis Le Bris’ side the boost they needed for the final stretch of the season. However, things got complicated as, just as players were coming back, more injuries surfaced.
Sunderland had begun to see some key players return from injury, with Romaine Mundle, Tommy Watson, and Alan Browne all coming back after extended periods on the sidelines.
Last week, Sunderland faced a triple injury setback with Enzo Le Fee, Dan Ballard, and Jayden Danns all expected to be out for several months. However, there’s now some positive news.
Danns, who arrived at Sunderland with a pre-existing injury, had a back issue discovered during his medical. It wasn’t serious enough to prevent his transfer from Liverpool, but fans initially questioned the deal, thinking it was a waste. Their concerns seemed justified when Danns’ two-week absence extended and turned into a potential season-ending injury.
However, according to Alan Nixon on Patreon, there’s still hope for Danns to feature for Sunderland before the season ends. The club is optimistic that the young striker will be able to resume training by April, pending medical clearance.
