Point guard Jaland Lowe has officially announced that he is withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft and will return to college basketball — this time as a member of the Kentucky Wildcats. The announcement came via Lowe’s Instagram, where he shared his excitement about the next step in his journey.
“Can’t miss out on this opportunity,” Lowe wrote in the post, referring to his decision to play for Kentucky. He still has two years of NCAA eligibility remaining and will bring a wealth of experience and production to Lexington.
Lowe transfers to Kentucky after a highly productive two-year stint with the Pittsburgh Panthers. During his sophomore season, the 6-foot-3 left-handed guard led Pitt in scoring with 16.8 points per game, while also averaging 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest. His performance earned him Third-Team All-ACC honors, a testament to his impact and consistency.

Originally from Missouri City, Texas, Lowe showed off his scoring prowess throughout the 2023-24 season. He scored 20 or more points in 10 different games and reached double figures in 26 of his appearances. One of his most notable accomplishments came on November 18, when he recorded only the sixth triple-double in Pitt history, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against VMI. Just a week later, he delivered his career-high of 28 points in an overtime win against Ohio State, further cementing his reputation as a clutch performer.
With Lowe joining the Wildcats, he is expected to take over as Kentucky’s starting point guard for the upcoming season under new head coach Mark Pope, who has been actively retooling the roster following major offseason changes.
Now that Lowe’s future is settled, attention turns to Otega Oweh, another Kentucky target who is currently going through the NBA Draft evaluation process. Oweh has until May 28th to decide whether he will stay in the draft or return to college basketball.
Lowe’s commitment gives Kentucky a proven, dynamic floor general with high-level experience—just what the Wildcats need as they aim to return to national prominence.
