Florida State University has been highly active in expanding its recruiting efforts since the calendar flipped to 2025, with the Seminoles coaching staff casting a wide net across several classes. While the primary focus remains on assembling a strong #Tribe26 class, the Seminoles are simultaneously keeping their eyes on the future, building relationships, and identifying top talent for the long term.
One of the more intriguing early prospects to emerge is 2028 offensive line recruit who received a scholarship offer from Florida State earlier this week. The offer came via offensive line coach Herb Hand, who has been instrumental in shaping the team’s future in the trenches.
The star is a rising sophomore, brings with him a well-known football pedigree. He is the son of George Selvie, the former University of South Florida standout and longtime NFL defensive lineman. The elder Selvie was inducted into the USF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019 after a distinguished college career and spent six seasons in the NFL.
Ironically, George Selvie Sr. faced off against Florida State during his senior season at USF in 2009. In that game, George Selvie III helped lead the Bulls to a 17-7 upset victory at Doak Campbell Stadium, posting four tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack — a performance still remembered by long-time fans of both programs.

Following college, George Selvie III was selected in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Over the course of his pro career, he played for six NFL teams — the St. Louis Rams (now Los Angeles Rams), Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants. His best season came in 2013 with Dallas, when he started all 16 games and posted 37 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection. He concluded his NFL career with 143 total tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections in 80 games.
As for George Selvie III, he’s still in the early stages of his high school career but is already turning heads. The 6-foot-4, 255-pound offensive lineman has picked up offers from programs such as USF, Louisville, Arizona, Wake Forest, and Syracuse, among others. Though he has not yet been ranked by 247Sports, his physical tools and early exposure have positioned him as a potential blue-chip recruit by the time the 2028 cycle is in full swing.
Selvie III’s early recruitment, particularly from a major program like FSU, underscores the coaching staff’s long-term vision and their intent to build relationships with top-tier talent years in advance. Despite this momentum, Florida State has yet to secure a commitment in the 2028 class.
Meanwhile, the Seminoles’ 2025 offensive line depth looks solid on paper, featuring a mix of experience and young talent. The projected depth includes:
Redshirt Seniors:
- Luke Petitbon
- Gunnar Hansen
- Micah Pettus
- Adrian Medley
- Richie Leonard IV
- Jacob Rizy
- Bryson Estes
Redshirt Sophomores:
- Lucas Simmons
- Andre’ Otto
Redshirt Freshmen:
- Josh Raymond
- Tye Hylton
- Jon Daniels
- Manasse Itete
- Jayden Todd
True Freshmen:
- Mario Nash Jr.
- Sean Poret
- Chastan Brown
- Sandman Thompson
- Ja’Elyne Matthews
With that kind of depth in the short term, FSU can afford to think long-term—and targeting promising linemen like Selvie III helps ensure the program remains competitive well into the future.
