With the NCAA Tournament less than a month away, the regular season is nearing, and some news struck the college basketball coaching world on Thursday when longtime and legendary head coach Fran Dunphy revealed that he will be retiring at the conclusion of the season.

Dunphy is currently in his third season at La Salle, his alma mater, but he is best known for his remarkable career at the University of Pennsylvania, where he coached for 17 seasons in the Ivy League.

After his time at Penn, he spent 13 seasons as the head coach of the Temple Owls. His legacy in Philadelphia basketball is deeply rooted in his success at both schools, solidifying him as one of the city’s most respected coaching figures.

Dunphy as an all-time record of 623-376 which has garnered him an impressive win percentage of .624. He is a two-time AAC Coach of the Year and a two-time A-10 Coach of the Year.
