Trey Amos, a former Alabama defensive back, announced Friday that he will transfer within the SEC. According to a social media post, Amos is moving one state over to play for Ole Miss.
Amos, who transferred from Louisiana-Lafayette, was a key depth piece for Alabama’s secondary in 2023. He was set to compete for a starting cornerback position for the Crimson Tide in 2024, with both Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold off to the NFL.
He was part of a flurry of UA players who entered the transfer portal after Nick Saban’s retirement. The change at head coach, which resulted in the hiring of Kalen DeBoer in Tuscaloosa, created a 30-day entry window.
The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Amos saw action in all 14 games for Alabama last season. He finished the year with 12 tackles and five pass breakups.

Amos was a three-star recruit leaving high school in Louisiana before spending three seasons at ULL. He had one interception, 59 tackles and 14 breakups throughout his time with the Ragin’ Cajuns.
In Oxford, Amos will be playing for some faces that are familiar to Crimson Tide fans. Former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is the head coach for of the Rebels, while former defensive coordinator Pete Golding runs the Ole Miss defense.
So long as they don’t meet in the SEC title game, Alabama and Ole Miss will not play each other in 2024, due to the schedule changing with Texas and Oklahoma joining the league.
