Los Angeles Dodgers Re-Sign Reliever Blake Treinen and Add Outfielder Michael Conforto to Bolster 2024 Roster
Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers have made two key additions to their 2024 roster, re-signing veteran reliever Blake Treinen and adding outfielder Michael Conforto on a multi-year deal. These moves come as the team looks to strengthen its bullpen and improve its offensive depth ahead of the new season.
Treinen, 35, has been a cornerstone of the Dodgers’ bullpen since joining the team in 2021. The right-hander, known for his high-velocity fastball and devastating slider, has played a crucial role in Los Angeles’ success in recent years. Despite battling injuries in 2023, Treinen showed flashes of his elite form, registering a solid 3.12 ERA across 26 appearances. The Dodgers are hoping that the re-signing of Treinen will provide stability to their bullpen and deepen their pitching staff for the upcoming campaign.
“Blake has been a key contributor for us in high-leverage situations, and we’re excited to have him back for 2024,” said Dodgers President of Baseball Operations, Andrew Friedman. “When healthy, he is one of the most dominant relievers in the game, and we are confident he will continue to make an impact for us this season.”
Along with Treinen’s return, the Dodgers also made a splash in the outfield by signing Michael Conforto, a former All-Star with the New York Mets. Conforto, 31, is coming off a strong bounce-back season with the San Francisco Giants, where he slashed .274/.364/.468 with 21 home runs and 78 RBIs. The Dodgers were looking to add power and stability to their outfield after some injuries and inconsistent production from their position players last year.
Conforto, known for his ability to hit for both power and average, is expected to help fill the void in the outfield while providing another reliable bat in the middle of the Dodgers’ lineup. His versatility and experience are seen as valuable assets as the team looks to make another deep postseason run in 2024.
“I’m excited to join such a storied franchise and be part of this championship-caliber team,” Conforto said in a statement. “The Dodgers have always been an organization with high expectations, and I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can.”
The moves come as the Dodgers continue to tweak their roster following a disappointing early exit in the 2023 postseason. With Treinen’s return and the addition of Conforto, the team is poised to contend for another division title and a World Series appearance in 2024.
