JUST IN: Yankees Star Rocked by Major Injury Blow Just as Momentum Builds

SEATTLE (AP) — The New York Yankees have placed third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a left ankle fracture during Monday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

To fill the roster spot, infielder DJ LeMahieu has been activated from the 10-day IL after completing his rehab assignment.

Cabrera sustained the injury in the ninth inning of New York’s 11-5 win over Seattle, awkwardly sliding into home plate as he scored the final run on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge.

Now in his fourth season in the majors, Cabrera has become a key part of the Yankees’ starting lineup. He is currently batting .243 with one home run and 11 RBIs.
