The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made an unexpected move by selecting a wide receiver with the No. 19 pick in the NFL Draft, but it turned out to be the beginning of a stellar draft class for GM Jason Licht.
The excitement continued as the team added potential game-changers like Benjamin Morrison, Jacob Parrish and Tez Johnson. Additionally, the Buccaneers continued their recent trend of making savvy undrafted free agent pickups, including Desmond Watson and Shilo Sanders.
Now, with the draft completed, it’s time for teams to trim their rosters to make room for the new rookies. The Bucs made their first cuts by releasing four players, including wide receiver Marquez Callaway.
Cornerback Dallis Flowers, outside linebacker Daniel Grzesiak, and wide receiver Tanner Knue were also waived, as announced by the team on Tuesday.

These cuts may not be earth-shattering, but they stand out. Tampa Bay doubled down on wide receivers in the draft, selecting both Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson, while also adding Will Sheppard and Garrett Greene as undrafted free agents.
By cutting Callaway and Knue, the Bucs are already clearing space for what’s expected to be a highly competitive position battle during training camp. At this point, four wide receiver spots are essentially locked: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Egbuka.
Last season, the Bucs kept only five receivers on the 53-man roster after training camp. Trey Palmer, Sterling Shepard, and Kam Johnson will all be vying for that final spot, with Tez Johnson also in the mix, as he offers similar skills to Kam Johnson.
Even with Callaway and Knue gone, the wide receiver room remains crowded, and this move signals that the roster shakeup is just beginning, rather than being a one-off.
