MAJOR UPDATE: Buffalo Bills Drop Surprise Roster Bombshell Ahead of 2025 Draft

The Buffalo Bills made two roster changes just a week before the 2025 NFL Draft. The team waived tight end Armani Rogers due to a non-football injury and released defensive tackle Branson Deen. Rogers had signed a reserve/futures contract with Buffalo in January, giving the team a chance to evaluate the former college quarterback-turned-tight end during training camp. However, that opportunity ended when Rogers tore his Achilles tendon in February.

Rogers, 27, entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and initially signed with the Washington Commanders. He made their 53-man roster as a rookie and recorded five receptions for 64 yards before landing on injured reserve in November of that year. He suffered another Achilles tear in a non-contact drill the following season. After his release from Washington, Rogers briefly spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and later joined the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad in 2024.

Rogers has roots in Buffalo—he was born there while his father, linebacker Sam Rogers, played for the Bills from 1994 to 2000. Sam was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 1994.

As for Deen, 25, he originally joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent. Although he didn’t make the active roster, he was placed on the practice squad before being released in December. The Bills brought him back on a reserve/future deal in January. In college, Deen played for Purdue from 2018 to 2022, and for the University of Miami in 2023.
