BREAKING Shake-Up: Dolphins Drop Major Bombshell Ahead of Draft

The Miami Dolphins are actively exploring trade possibilities for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, general manager Chris Grier revealed Tuesday during a pre-draft press conference at the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens.

Ramsey, who did not request a trade or contract revision, became the center of internal discussions that ultimately led the Dolphins to weigh a future without him.

“After a lot of conversations this offseason, we came to the conclusion that parting ways might be best for everyone involved,” Grier said. “It wasn’t a snap decision—we put in a lot of thought and time.”

The 30-year-old Ramsey was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in 2023. A seven-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All-Pro, he has suited up for 27 games over the past two seasons. He signed a three-year, $72 million deal with Miami, with $24.2 million guaranteed for 2025 and 2026.

Grier said there’s no firm timeline for a potential trade and couldn’t confirm if it would happen before the 2025 NFL Draft, set for April 24–26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He also didn’t rule out the possibility of Ramsey returning to the Dolphins if no suitable deal materializes.

“He’s a great player—probably a future Hall of Famer,” Grier acknowledged. “Replacing someone like Jalen is never easy. But looking ahead, we believe this move gives us the best shot at long-term success.”

As Miami reshapes its secondary, the team is set to bring back several cornerbacks for the 2025-26 season, including Kader Kohou, Elijah Campbell, Storm Duck, Ethan Bonner, and Cam Smith. They’ve also bolstered the group with offseason signings of Ifeatu Melifonwu and Artie Burns.

On a separate note, Grier addressed speculation surrounding wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Despite recent rumors, he shut down talk of a trade—unless the price is right.

“Tyreek’s been in the building almost every day this offseason,” Grier said. “We’re not looking to move him. But hey, if someone offers me two first-rounders, we’ll talk.”

The Dolphins currently hold 10 picks in the 2025 draft, including the 13th overall selection.
