BREAKING: Virginia Tech Hokies Land Another Physically Gifted Four-Star From Transfer Portal— Versatile RB-Turned-WR Commits

During the winter transfer portal period, Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry made several key additions to a roster that had been affected by outgoing transfers and NFL Draft departures. His efforts to restock the team have already started to show promise during spring practices.

Both offensive and defensive newcomers are expected to play meaningful roles this season. With the Spring Game scheduled for Saturday at Lane Stadium, it will be a valuable opportunity to see how some of these new players perform before the team shifts focus to summer training.

One notable absence from the game will be starting quarterback Kyron Drones, who is sitting out due to a medical procedure. Fortunately, he’s expected to be fully recovered in time for summer workouts. In his place, Virginia Tech will give extended reps to several quarterbacks, including some who are building chemistry with a potentially electric new weapon on offense.

Former Tennessee running back Cameron Seldon, who transferred to Virginia Tech, is beginning to draw attention as he transitions to wide receiver. Though he entered the program with experience in the backfield, early indications suggest he could thrive as a dynamic playmaker on the outside. Seldon already made an impression in a recent scrimmage, hauling in a highlight-worthy reception.

Coach Pry spoke highly of Seldon’s performance so far, saying in March, “I’ve been pleasantly surprised. He catches the ball more naturally than I anticipated. He has excellent speed, a strong frame, and has shown all the qualities we hoped for during the winter program. So far, he’s been everything we expected.”

Cameron Seldon, Virginia Tech, Wide Receiver

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound athlete from Browns Store, Virginia, spent two seasons with the Volunteers, where he transitioned from wide receiver to running back, accumulating 224 rushing yards and one touchdown over 19 games. Seldon’s move to Virginia Tech marks a return to his home state, aligning with head coach Brent Pry’s strategy of bringing local talent back through the transfer portal. At Virginia Tech, Seldon is expected to play as a wide receiver, leveraging his versatility and athleticism to make a significant impact on the Hokies’ offense.

Ranked as the No. 9 running back in the portal by 247Sports, Cameron Seldon appears to be evolving into a versatile offensive threat, capable of lining up both in the backfield and at wide receiver. Although Pry briefly considered testing him on defense, it’s clear that Seldon’s most immediate value will come on offense — an area where the Hokies are eager to find new difference-makers.

Based on his early performance in camp, Seldon is poised to become a key contributor for Virginia Tech this fall, adding a new layer of explosiveness to their offensive arsenal.
