The previous season at East End Park, the former Tottenham Hotspur defender was a hit.
On the day of the transfer deadline, Dunfermline was unable to come to an agreement to bring back Malachi Fagan-Walcott, a defender for Cardiff City.
The second half of the previous season saw the former Spurs center-back on loan at East End Park.
Additionally, he had previously experienced an injury-shortened tenure with Dundee under manager James McPake.
However, McPake was disappointed when, only hours before the window ended, a new bid for the 22-year-old was rejected.
It’s said that McPake was eager to sign two players from south of the border last week, including Fagan-Walcott.
However, it was ultimately decided to farm the young player out to York City of the National League; oddly, neither team has officially announced this move as of yet.
Following an apparently challenging start to his Dunfermline career earlier this year, Fagan-Walcott proved to be an excellent addition, helping the team escape relegation and go as close as possible to a promotion play-off berth.
In his 15 games with the Fifers, he also provided three assists on goals on the other end.
Goal
This summer, McPake had him marked as a long-term target due to his refined displays.
However, the youthful player—who made just one appearance for Tottenham—was first kept by Cardiff for the preseason and the start of the new league season.
He has made three appearances for the Bluebirds this season, including ninety minutes in the Carabao Cup loss to Southampton last week, which ended in a 5-3 loss.
But it was always likely that he will go on loan to get more playing time with the first team.
Dunfermline were optimistic they could persuade Cardiff and the player’s representative that they were the best destination for the promising stopper.
But they were forced to admit defeat in a frustrating final day of the transfer window.
McPake will now turn his focus on the domestic loan market after setting his sights on at least two more new recruits following the capture of Tobi Oluwayemi, Josh Cooper and Tommy Fogarty.
