BC’s FORT ST. JOHN When will the oval speed skating ice surface at the Pomeroy Sports Centre be open to the public? That information has been released by the City of Fort St. John.

A post on Facebook on August 30th claimed that the replacement of a brine header caused a delay in surface preparation.

The Fort St. John’s Recreation Department post states, “The oval will now be expected to be completed in September.”

This is approximately one month later than scheduled, the statement says.

Due to the delay, the oval won’t be open for public skating until October.

On September 28 and 29, though, the Fort St. John Elks Speed Skating Club will hold their BC Long Track Fall Academy at the venue.

On Tuesday, September 3, the Fall 2024 Recreation & Leisure Guide will be available.
