Christian Coleman is a huge fan and draws inspiration from Sha’Carri Richardson, the face of track and field.
Christian Coleman, the world 60m champion, has joined the rising number of athletics fans who believe Sha’Carri Richardson’s newfound popularity as the face of track and field is beneficial to the sport.

After winning the world 100m title in Budapest last year, the world’s fastest woman’s success off the track has propelled her to the top as the sport’s face alongside Noah Lyles, and Coleman is pleased to see her perform at the greatest level.

“She’s special. And I believe she is at the vanguard of empowering women in athletics, pushing it to a whole new level,” stated the 60m World Record holder during the Xiamen Diamond League news conference.

Coleman went on to say that Richardson has the qualities to move the sport ahead and that he admires her exploits.

“She’s a beast in her own right and a great talent, and I believe she will continue to move the sport ahead and take it to new heights, and I am a fan as well.

“She’s someone I look up to for inspiration; seeing what she’s going through with her career and what she’s doing now is just remarkable. So I’m inspired by that, and she’ll keep pushing the sport forward,” he added.

Richardson is projected as the unquestioned face of track and field for the next decade, and if she can reproduce her World Championships Budapest performance at the Paris Olympics and subsequent championships, her path to legendary status, like Usain Bolt’s, will only begin.

But first, the 24-year-old will be looking for her first win of the season in quick time in the Xiamen Diamond League, in preparation for an unforgettable performance in Paris.
